Amish White Bread 🍞

Soft and fluffy Amish white bread, perfect for your everyday bread needs. Slice thin for sandwiches or thick for French toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Warm Water, 110°F to 120°F
  • ⅓ cup - Granulated Sugar
  • 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) - Instant Yeast
  • 3 cups - All-Purpose Flour
  • ¾ teaspoon - Salt
  • 2 tablespoons - Vegetable or Canola Oil
  • 2 tablespoons - Unsalted Butter, melted

Directions

  1. Combine water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes until bubbles form.
  2. In a stand mixer with dough hook, add flour, salt, and oil. Pour in yeast mixture and knead on medium speed for about 10 minutes until dough no longer sticks to bowl sides.
  3. Form dough into a tight ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled.
  4. Deflate dough and shape into a log fitting a 9x5 loaf pan. Cover and let rise 50 to 60 minutes until doubled.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F about 20 minutes before second rise completes.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush crust with melted butter and cool 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a cooling rack.
